What the numbers say
Indian coffee is overwhelmingly an export crop, so farm-gate prices for parchment and cherry are benchmarked against international Arabica and Robusta levels, adjusted for the rupee, freight and local quality. Because the four common forms (Arabica/Robusta x parchment/cherry) trade at quite different levels, any single reference price should be read as a broad indication rather than a quote for a specific lot. The multi-year chart here tracks the global Robusta benchmark price in ₹ (Indian coffee closely follows it); the headline figure above is the latest Indian market rate.

What affects the coffee price?
Global benchmark prices
Indian coffee is largely export-linked, so domestic rates track world Arabica and Robusta benchmarks, which in turn react to Brazil and Vietnam crop news.
Arabica vs Robusta
Arabica typically commands a clear premium over Robusta for its aroma and acidity, so the species mix in a lot strongly affects its value.
Parchment vs cherry
Washed parchment (wet-processed) generally fetches more than sun-dried cherry of the same species because of cleaner cup quality and higher recovery.
Weather & the rupee
Blossom and backing showers then a dry harvest decide yield in the Ghats, while a weaker rupee against the dollar lifts realisations on this largely exported crop.
Major producing regions
Kodagu / Coorg (Karnataka)
India's single largest coffee district — shade-grown Arabica and Robusta.
Chikmagalur & Hassan (Karnataka)
The historic cradle of Indian coffee and a major Arabica belt.
Wayanad (Kerala)
A large Robusta-growing region in the Kerala Ghats.
Nilgiris & Shevaroys (Tamil Nadu)
High-elevation Arabica from the Tamil Nadu hills.
Grades & varieties
- Arabica Parchment (washed) — Wet-processed, cleaner cup — usually the highest-priced form.
- Arabica Cherry (natural) — Sun-dried whole fruit — a value alternative to washed Arabica.
- Robusta Parchment — Washed Robusta, firmer-bodied and widely exported.
- Robusta Cherry — Sun-dried Robusta — the bulk, value end of the market.

Export relevance
India is among the world's larger coffee producers and exports the majority of its crop, with Europe a key destination. Indian Robustas and washed Arabicas, plus value-added instant coffee, earn the bulk of foreign exchange, so global demand and the exchange rate feed directly into the prices growers in the Ghats receive.
Seasonal trends
Blossom showers arrive around March to April and harvesting runs roughly November to February, with Arabica picked ahead of Robusta. Prices often firm in the lean pre-harvest months and can soften as fresh parchment and cherry reach the curing works, though the global benchmark can override this domestic rhythm.

Still have questions? Talk to usWhat is the price of Coffee in India today?
Coffee is trading at ₹205 per kg in India as of 25 Jun 2026 — a source-verified wholesale rate aggregated from authorised public sources and normalized to ₹/kg. Indicative, for reference only — not an AroWest retail price.
What is the coffee price today in India?
The figure above is an indicative wholesale farm-gate reference in rupees per kilogram, drawn from authorised public sources and cross-checked before publishing. Actual rates vary widely by species (Arabica or Robusta) and form (parchment or cherry).
Why is Arabica usually costlier than Robusta?
Arabica has finer aroma, more acidity and a more delicate cup, and is generally harder to grow, so it commands a premium over the hardier, higher-yielding Robusta.
What is the difference between parchment and cherry coffee?
Parchment is wet-processed (pulped and washed) and dried in its parchment skin, giving a cleaner cup; cherry is the whole fruit sun-dried in one step. Parchment of the same species usually sells for more.
Is this AroWest's retail price for coffee?
No. This is an indicative wholesale/market reference for raw produce, not AroWest's retail price and not a live guaranteed quote. AroWest retail packs are graded, roasted or processed and priced separately in the shop.
