Origin & story

Released in 2001 by the Indian Institute of Spices Research (ICAR-IISR), Calicut, as a selection from germplasm. The variety is also catalogued as Accession 117.

How it grows

Matures in 200 days. Average yield is about 23.2 tonnes fresh rhizome per hectare. The plant reaches around 65 cm in height with roughly 12-13 tillers per clump. It is reported as resistant to root-knot nematode. It has been adopted mainly in Kerala.
